Mr. Samuel E. Butler, Assistant Director of Operation and Intelligence, joined the revolutionary Executive Management Team of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) on November 1, 2020. Prior to his appointment to the NIA, he completed a distinguish career in law enforcement with the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) expanding four decades. There, he held many leadership positions. He is a transformational leader, who aims to inspire, empower and motivate team members to be innovative and creative in pursue of the organization priorities.
He served as a lecture in the Detective Training Academy, Commander of the Drug Enforcement Unit and at the pinnacle of his career he led the Northern Bahamas (Grand Bahama, Abaco and Bimini) as the Assistant Commissioner in charge.
Throughout his career, he attended various law enforcement leadership and intelligence based international courses, seminars and workshops. Among his many travels were Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados, Suriname, Peru, Colombia and Guyana also Russia and Rome. Beyond the classroom experiences, each destination visit wedged new insights, changed paradigm and provided innovative lends on how he views the global arena and security threats.
Mr. Samuel Butler earned a degree in Law and Criminal Justice and a BSc. in Management. He is the recipient of several awards; Police Long Service and Good Conduct, Meritorious Service, Queens Police Medal (QPM) and the National Hero Award (OM).He is devoted to managing complex, demanding and the mammoth tasks of collecting, integrating and correlating actionable intelligence. He firmly believes that the management of intelligence serves as a formidable proverbial wall that protects our national and the shared security interest of all its allied nations.
